Questions

Wedding budget FAQ

How much does a wedding cost in India?

It depends mostly on guests, number of events and venue. On Wedsy's current Bangalore prices, a 200-guest wedding over one day costs about ₹12 – 15 lakh, a typical 500-guest wedding over two days about ₹30 – 37 lakh, a 600-guest resort wedding with rooms and meals about ₹49 – 61 lakh, and a 1,000-guest three-day luxury wedding ₹95 lakh – 1.2 crore.

What is the biggest cost in an Indian wedding?

Food and the venue. In a typical 500-guest wedding, food is about 46% of the budget and the venue about 20%; decor is about 12% and photography about 8%.

How is this wedding budget calculated?

Each event is costed from its guest count: food per plate, decor by style and event size, the venue per day (scaled for the biggest event and the area), photography split across events, rooms per night, plus artists, pandit and entertainment. The range runs from slightly under to 20% over the estimate, because final menus and decor details always move.

Is the wedding budget calculator free?

Yes. You answer a few questions, verify your number with a one-time code, and see your full budget broken down by category and by event. A Wedsy planner can then walk you through it on a free call.

How can I reduce my wedding budget?

Cut guests at the biggest event first — food, venue size and decor all scale with it. Combining events on one day saves a venue-day; a resort that includes rooms and meals is often cheaper than a hall plus a hotel; and Classic decor on smaller events (haldi, mehendi) with Grand only at the main event keeps the look where it shows.

Does the calculator work outside Bangalore?

The prices are Bangalore prices, which sit close to other Indian metros. For smaller cities expect venue and catering to come in lower; for Mumbai and Delhi slightly higher.
